Penny Black's Insurance Week - 26 June 2014

Penny is no slouch when it comes to sports. She once played a mighty fine game of boules at the 1900 Paris Olympics, don’t you know?

But she was thoroughly outclassed at Airmic last week, where she and two foolish Post journalists attempted to keep up with the pack as part of a 5km jog, described, surely sarcastically, as a fun run. Among the leading pack was Marsh UK and Ireland boss Mark ‘the silver blur’ Weil, or at least he was when Penny last saw him. Weil, of course, had good reason to sprint – he was due on stage at the conference less than two hours later.

Also at Airmic last week was legendary Southampton FC striker Matt Le Tissier, who boldly predicted the teams for this year’s World Cup final. Sorry, not boldly – badly. Mere hours before 2010’s champions Spain were eliminated, penalty wizard Le Tissier was confidently predicting their place in the last round of the 2014 tournament, as well as a successful stay for England. Penny hopes guests at the risk management event weren’t taking too many gambling tips from the Soccer Saturday whizz.
