Penny Black's Insurance Week - 19 June 2014

Penny was shocked to see that one Chinese insurer would not be offering ‘World Cup elimination insurance’ to England fans as the tournament kicked off last week.
Ancheng Insurance is offering cover for fans to compensate for the disappointment of being eliminated. The policy, which costs eight yuan (75p) is only available to supporters of Argentina, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Brazil. Outrageous! Penny is going to go all Daily Mail on this one. Meanwhile, for those who, like Penny, are less keen to stay up all hours watching the football this month, LV is providing some alternative viewing. The insurer has secured a deal with TV chef Jamie Oliver to create a series of six ‘how to’ films to show viewers how to cook a series of popular dishes on his online cooking channel, Food Tube. The first video launched last weekend and the remainder will be aired with consecutive shows on the next five Saturdays. As well as the ‘Naked Chef’, Penny was delighted to hear additional Food Tube chefs will be taking part including ‘DJ BBQ’ and ‘Cupcake Jemma’ – one wonders if there might be a future slot for ‘Cucumber sandwich Penny’?
