Editor's comment: Anyone for a game of hot potato?

stephanie-denton-new

Most of us are familiar with the children’s party game ‘hot potato’ where players in a circle toss a small object to each other while music plays.

The game’s origins are unclear, but a Google search returns a description in Sidney’s Addy’s 1888 Glossary of Sheffield Words of a game in which people sit in a row or in chairs and a lighted candle
