Isle of Sheppey crash culprits offered alertness courses

Drivers responsible for a pile-up on the Isle of Sheppey Crossing that left eight people with severe injuries have been offered driver alertness courses as opposed to facing prosecution through the courts.

Kent Police said 32 people had been offered the courses after the 130-vehicle pile-up on 5 September last year, which left more than 200 injured.

The crash continued for 10 minutes as vehicles
