Penny Black's Insurance Week - 14 November 2013

Penny was delighted to catch up with the new team at Equity this week and find out what their plans are for next year following the overhaul of the business.

Speaking to chief operating officer at the insurer – experienced change-management expert and former Xchanging and Commercial Union veteran Tim Yorke, six months into his role – Penny learnt of his resently bestowed nickname. “It seems I’m known as ‘The Plumber’,” he confessed. When asked why by Penny, she struggled to find a ladylike way to express his reply – let’s just say he deals with the effluent others have left behind.

Penny was also thrilled to sit in on Post’s Fraud conference this week, and was ready to go wild when Zurich’s David Clements, motor investigations manager, took to the stage,as part of the Chartered Insurance Insurance Institute’s new generation group to talk data sharing. Clements, who later boasted that he and NFU Mutual large loss manager Nigel Fryer, were the eye candy of the group, said the topic is normally one that has the crowd in raptures. “Normally we get foam fingers and knickers being thrown, but we will press on.”

Oh, David, couldn’t you have waited? After 170 years, it’s not easy for Penny to retrieve her bloomers!
