Hackney Empire secures £1.1m payout from Aviva

Bag of money

Aviva has been told it must pay the Hackney Empire theatre £1.1m following a decade-long legal battle.

The Empire suffered financial problems after builders employed for its refurbishment went bust in 2003 and Aviva - then Norwich Union - refused to pay up on a £1.1m bond.
