RSA cuts 93 Croydon jobs

RSA is to quit its Croydon office to relocate to a smaller site later this year, putting more than 90 staff at risk of redundancy.

The insurer's UK mid-market trading and operations teams operate from the Croydon office, but their work will now be done from RSA's Manchester office.

RSA will close the Emerald House, Croydon office in July.

RSA said in a statement that it hopes some staff from the Croydon office will be able to take up vacancies in Manchester, but a spokesman was unable to specify how many.

"We are making every effort to support our staff affected by this," the insurer added.

RSA hopes to open a smaller office in Croydon and transfer 23 staff to the new site.

The news follows job cuts late last year at Direct Line Group and Aviva.

Aviva put 120 jobs in its Sheffield Asprea-run property claims centre at risk on 29 November, while on the same day DLG announced that it was proposing 236 cuts across the business, 160 from commercial lines subsidiary NIG.
