My Best XI: Steven Williams, Go Compare

Steven Williams, the new product development manager at Go Compare, selects his Best XI for a start-up insurance company. As well as a range of brokers, online specialists and telematics providers, two Welsh footballing legends are chosen in attack, while a TV advertising star takes his bow in defence.

My Best XI Steven Williams

1. Phil Bird (IFB) (GK)
Phil will ensure nothing slips through the net, striking fear into the opposition in the same way he keeps fraudsters awake at night

2. Dan Francis (Clements International) (RB)
With Clements covering foreign licences, Dan will add some international flavour to the side. He also adds bags of start-up experience

3. Gio Compario (LB)
The moustachioed opera singer is willing to throw himself in front of a Stuart Pearce shot and is experienced at taking insults from the fans

4. Tom Acott (First Central) (CM)
Tom has been fundamental in building the First Central brand over recent years. Brings energy to the team

5. David Stevens (Admiral) (CB)
My captain. David has great leadership qualities and can add vision from the back

6. Matthew Donaldson (BGL) (CB)
Another experienced head who provides e-commerce and insurance skills

7. Mike Brockman (Insure The Box) (RM)
A creative winger who has the vision to bring a different viewpoint to the team

8. Henry Topham (Quote me Happy) (CM)
I worked with Henry when the QMH brand launched in the aggregator world on Go Compare, so I know he'll make a great strategist

9. Mark Hughes (ST)
The quiet, no-nonsense ‘Sparky' will be ideal for dealing with the regulator's high standards as he sets his own to similarly lofty heights

10. Scott Salter (BGL) (ST)
Another silver haired frontman who will supply the style and charm to complement Hughes' steel up front

11. Craig Bellamy (LM)
Like the insurance industry, this Welsh legend may be viewed with distrust by some but behind the scenes adds quality and a strong sense of identity
