Personal accident reinsurer Cigna Re has formed a Lloyd's syndicate
in partnership with Lloyd's managing agency Creechurch Underwriting.

The new syndicate, 1607, which started trading last month, is backed
entirely by corporate capital supplied by Cigna Re and will specialise in
accident and health business.

In its first full year of trading next year, the syndicate will have
capital of £16m ($27m), and this will increase to £19m in 2000.

"Syndicate 1607 brings together the strong UK distribution channels of
Creechurch, the global licences of Lloyd's and the worldwide
representation of Cigna Re," said Bruce Graham, Creechurch's managing
director.

The active underwriter for the new syndicate is Jonathan Thomas, who was
previously with the Brockbank Group. He is joined by deputy underwriter
Gavin Watson, formerly with Lloyd's broker Crawley Warren, and assistant
underwriter Samantha Moss, who also joins from Brockbank.
