Charman pays out £48m in divorce case
John Charman has been ordered by the High Court to pay his former wife a total of £48m, in what is believed to be the biggest divorce award in legal history.
The chief executive of reinsurer Axis Capital, who is retiring from the company at the end of 2008, has assets believed to be worth around £150m.
Mr Charman said he would appeal against the ruling
