Provider warns islanders to mind the healthcare gap after new UK ruling

Channel Islanders visiting the UK should be aware of the risk of costly medical bills following the UK's decision to withdraw access to free NHS care from residents of Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm, says AXA PPP Healthcare.

Islanders will now have to pay themselves - or make sure they're covered - if they need surgery, hospital treatment, consultations or repatriation from the UK as of 1 April 2009.
