Supplier says SatNav theft on the up

Toad, the automotive technology insurance replacement firm said today it has seen a dramatic increase in demand for replacement portable navigation systems. Scotland Yard released figures just before Christmas stating that 500 are being stolen every month and thefts of portable navigation systems now account for 10% of all thefts from cars.

As the UK’s only insurance replacement specialist with direct agreements with the two market leaders, TomTom and Garmin, Toad added that it expects demand to increase throughout 2006 until portable
