Penny meets Century Underwriting's underwriting manager, Ian White

What was your first ever job – and were you any good at it? Landscape gardener – and no. I tried to dig a pond by hand instead of using a digger
Career high point to date? Being a proud shareholder in the newly rebranded Century Underwriting
If you had the power, what words or phrase would be banned? “I am sorry, but the bar is closed”
What would be your perfect day away from work? Go kart racing followed by a round of golf then a curry with my wife and our two daughters
Who would play you in the film of your life? Harry Hill
What is worst habit? Swearing
If you could go back in time, when and where would you go? 1947 to watch Charlton Athletic win the FA Cup
What would your death row meal be? Ostrich steak, chunky chips and onion rings
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A banker (yes, really)
What is the strangest thing you have ever had to underwrite? At Century we specialise in finding a way to insure the trickiest of commercial fleet risks, so I’ve seen some unusual ones in my time. The strangest has to be ‘mobile oranges’! When I was the underwriter for Del Monte they had mobile oranges as their promotional vehicles
What inanimate object would you save first from a fire and why? My glasses so I can see!
Ski slopes or beach break? Beach break
Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn? Marilyn Monroe
James Bond or Indiana Jones? James Bond
