In conversation with Zurich: Keeping on the right side of the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations

Zurich Q&A video

If a firm uses or stores sufficient quantities of dangerous substances, they fall under the Control of Major Hazards Regulations 1999, known as COMAH.

As part of the ongoing series Expertise in Action, in this video Phil Moore, head of engineering, Zurich Engineering, speaks to Post editor-in-chief Jonathan Swift about how the regulations are being enforced and how customers can avoid enforcement action.

He also explains whether the rules take damage to the environment as seriously as injury to people, and addresses the question of whether COMAH sites are being more vigorously investigated in the wake of the Buncefield explosion, and how Zurich can work with clients to reduce their potential financial liabilities.
