The insurance industry has been remembering Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II after she sadly passed away at Balmoral.

In a statement released yesterday by The Royal Family, it was announced that Queen Elizabeth died peacefully at Balmoral on the afternoon of 8 September 2022.

The full statement, published yesterday, read: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

Shortly after, the new King, Charles III issued a statement, paying tribute to his mother.

It read: “The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.

“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved mother.

“I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.

“During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.”

Insurance Reacts

The insurance industry has come together to collectively pay tribute to Her Majesty, Britain’s longest serving monarch. Below are the statements the industry have published in the aftermath of the news.

ABI’s Hannah Gurga

On behalf of the insurance and long-term savings industry, we send our deepest condolences to the Royal Family on the passing of HM The Queen. At this very sad time, we pay tribute to the service and dedication that Her Majesty has given to the United Kingdom throughout her life and reign.

British Insurance Brokers’ Association

We are deeply saddened by the news that Her Majesty The Queen has passed away this afternoon. Our thoughts are with the royal family at this sad time as we join our friends and colleagues in national mourning.

We will update members directly if any of our Tour of the Regions or other events need to be postponed.

Chartered Insurance Institute

The Chartered Insurance Institute sends its deepest condolences to the royal family. We are saddened by the passing of our Royal Patron and head of the Commonwealth, Her Majesty, The Queen.

The Queen was inspirational in the way she lived a life of remarkable, dedicated public service. Our thoughts are with the royal family at this difficult time.

The Queen played a key role in the Institute’s development in 1987, when she updated the Royal Charter, which requires us to ‘secure and justify the confidence of the public’.

Two years ago, the CII became an accredited member of the Commonwealth by joining the category of Professional and Civil Society Organisations.

Membership saw the CII commit to the Commonwealth’s 16 values and principles, which included a strong focus on gender equality and facilitating access to the profession for people from all backgrounds.

The CII was proud to commit to the shared set of values championed by the Commonwealth and made the step to become an accredited member, out of respect for the many years of commitment from the Queen, and now her successor, His Majesty King Charles III.

As we enter a period of national mourning, we will reflect on how our activities in the coming days may need to change so that we can show our respect to our Royal Patron, who has set the standard for future Monarchs to follow.

Once further details of the state funeral and official observations have been announced, we will update members if any exam sittings or other events need to be postponed.

Ardonagh

Across Ardonagh we were deeply saddened by yesterday’s announcement of the death of Her Majesty the Queen. She is remembered by many worldwide as beacon of duty, wisdom and service.

The Queen was a lifelong supporter of charitable giving and championed the causes of thousands of charities around the world.

Throughout her reign, Queen Elizabeth II was a dedicated patron of The British Red Cross, a charity that provides emergency relief and aid to people in desperate need globally.

She worked alongside them as an 18-year-old second subaltern in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during the Second World War, offered comfort by visiting patients cared for by the British Red Cross and most recently helped promote the charity’s current work to support those affected by floods in Pakistan.

For more than 70 years, Queen Elizabeth II worked tirelessly to support the work of this and many other charities, raising billions to help others in need.

In honour of the Queen’s legacy of charitable fundraising and on behalf of all our employees, the Group’s dedicated charity Ardonagh Community Trust will be making a donation to the British Red Cross.

Penny James, Direct Line Group CEO

On behalf of Direct Line Group, I extend our condolences to the Royal Family on the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This is a sad moment for us all and I know customers and colleagues alike will be reflecting on the passing of a monarch who had been an unchanging presence throughout the entirety of most of our lives. I have been thinking about the late Queen’s resilience in her lifelong service to our country. Coming to the throne at a time when very few women were head of anything let alone Head of State must have been daunting, but over the next 70 years she was resolute in doing her duty. She has been and will always be an inspiration.
