Post magazine – 21 April 2011

001-post-2104

The latest issue of Post magazine is now available to subscribers as a digital and interactive e-book.

This week the Post team reports on the joint venture between the Ministry of Justice and mobile phone operators to tackle the problem of unsolicited text messaging from claims management firms.

Post revealed in June 2010 that the department was investigating the rise in organisations promoting personal injury services to UK consumers.

In other news Aon has won the tender to provide insurance coverage for the McLaren Formula One team, McLaren Automotive and individual policies for its drivers; broker Brightside is in talks to add Arch Capital to its panel of commercial insurers as it looks to add a series of new risks to its commercial portfolio; Towergate listing on the London Stock Exchange is "no pre-conceived certainty", according to non-executive chairman Alastair Lyons; and Giles' director of corporate development, Paul Dickson has said that its effort to grow its corporate book of business to £100m within 12 to 18 months has been boosted with a series of business wins.

Also in this issue, despite being the largest city in Wales, the Cardiff insurance sector faces daunting chellenges in the future. Post senior reporter Daniel Dunkley went to the city to find out how it plans to face them.
Amy Ellis reports from a roundtable based of one of the latest industry buzzwords - ‘cloud computing'. Post gathered together technology and industry experts to debate whether the insurance industry is ready to seize the opportunities it can offer.

In addition, as UK nurses issue an overwhelming vote of no confidence in the Health Secretary's management of NHS reforms, Richard Sear considers the implications of the government's plans for the NHS, private health providers, insurers and patients.
And a focus on high net worth looks at two separate areas on the market - rates and what the industry can do to price for profit; and how HNW homeowners can take prevention measures to keep art collections, antiques, contents and buildings in the best condition possible.
