Tim Ryan, executive chairman of independent broker alliance Una Alliance, has been appointed temporary deputy chair of the British Insurance Brokers’ Association following the departure of Stuart Reid.

Ryan, pictured, will take up the role with immediate effect.

Reid, who resigned as executive chairman of Bluefin last month to take up the UK retail CEO role at Arthur J Gallagher, was appointed deputy chairman last year, replacing former AJG retail CEO Brendan McManus who had held the position for five years.

Lord Hunt Biba's chairman announced the appointment during his opening address at the BIBA 2015 Conference and Exhibition in Manchester.

He told delegates: "Stuart worked enthusiastically in his capacity firstly as chair of Biba's larger brokers' advisory board and latterly as my deputy chair and he will be missed at the Biba board table.
However, I am delighted to report that Tim Ryan has accepted my offer to take on the role of Biba deputy chair.

Commenting on his appointment Ryan said it was "an exciting time for brokers" and that he was "honoured to be able to represent the members at one of the highest level within BIBA".
