Uninsured driving - the European way


European Union rules that came into force on 1 March in the UK mean law-abiding motorists will have to foot the bill for repairs to the cars of uninsured drivers hit by other uninsured drivers.  The compensation scheme is run by the Motor Insurers' Bureau, which is funded through a levy (£244m in 2016).
