Insured losses 36% above 10-year-average in 2012
Natural catastrophes globally caused total economic losses of £200bn in 2012, only slightly above the 10-year-average of $187bn.
However, insured losses of $72bn exceeded the 10-year-average by 36%, as the two most costly events occurred in highly insured regions of the US, Aon Benfield's Global Climate and Catastrophe Report s
