In the short time since I became SME director at RSA, small to medium-sized businesses have seen some dramatic changes. They have experienced painfully sharp rises in fuel, energy and materials costs, which have culminated in annual small business inflation hitting 5% in the last quarter — as found by the latest More Than business inflation guide.
However, last week, the Chancellor re-emphasised the government's commitment to the SME sector, proclaiming it as a champion for the UK's recovery from one of the deepest recessions in our lifetime
