IAG profits tumble in first half results

Profit at IAG's UK operation fell A$53m (£32m) to A$22m in the second half of 2009, compared to a year earlier.

The UK business recorded an A$24m insurance profit on A$406m of gross written premium for the six months ended 31 December 2009. This compares to a A$77m profit on A$389m of GWP in H2 2008.
