Insurers
Argo Global
Lloyd’s insurer Argo Global has appointed Stewart Muirhead as casualty wordings manager, who joins from Aon UK where he was associate director/solicitor and head of Aon Claims Solutions. Muirhead was also responsible for legal and claims advisory, project management and committees in the UK and US. He will report to head of casualty, Ryan Barnes.

Axa
Axa Insurance has appointed Nel Mooy as travel head for the intermediated and corporate partnership arm of the business responsible for executing the insurer’s strategy, including distribution and pricing and developing partnerships. Mooy re-joins Axa after six years at Towergate Underwriting, where she was most recently personal underwriting CEO. Before that she spent nine years at Axa where she was direct marketing and offer head. Mooy’s new role was created following the formation of Axa Insurance.

Barbican
Barbican Insurance Group has hired Michael McGeown as a marine liability underwriter, joining from Osprey Underwriting Agency. During his 16-year insurance career, McGeown has held roles including reinsurance broker at Cameron Richard Smith Insurance Services and deputy underwriter at Charles Taylor Consulting for the Standard Bermuda P&I Club.

Chaucer
The specialist Lloyd’s insurer has added Laura McDonagh to its team as onshore energy underwriter. McDonagh will write worldwide downstream oil, gas, refining and petrochemical property business. She joins from Zurich Global where she managed the oil and gas portfolio.

ECIC

John March is joining ECIC as non-executive director. The appointment is part of the insurer’s strategy of appointing NEDs from within the construction sector to ensure ECIC stays as close as possible to the issues affecting its policyholders. March is director of the Giffen Group which is involved in signaling, electrical building services and power disciplines for the rail and underground sectors.

HCC International
The company has recruited Tom Delaney in the role of liability underwriter for its London-based casualty team. Delaney will be responsible for developing and growing the existing profitable account in the South East region. He began his insurance career at Thames Underwriting and was responsible for underwriting new liability/CAR business for contractors. The company has also appointed Geoff Proctor as a casualty underwriter for its Birmingham team. Proctor has worked in insurance for almost 20 years, working with A-Plan and Swinton before spending 13 years at Arthur J Gallagher. He will responsible for supporting HCC International’s future regional development plans.

RSA
Barbara O’Reilly has taken on the role of global network director at RSA. Previously RSA commercial division marketing and insight director, O’Reilly will support RSA’s multinational business growth agenda and ensure the network supports the insurer’s customers and brokers. O’Reilly joined RSA in 2011 and held a variety of roles in the commercial division including distribution director and proposition director.

Brokers
Markham
The high net worth broker has made three appointments, with Amanda ‘AJ’ Burns and Jessica Peacock added to the team as private client account executives and Paul Watson as management accountant. Burns joins from Four Counties Insurance brokers in Cambridge, bringing 15 years’ experience in personal lines broking. Peacock joins from RK Harrison after four years working in private client broking. Watson brings experience in both domestic and international accounting to the role and joins from patent attorneys Marks & Clerk.

Compare The Market
Aggregator Compare The Market has recruited former Virgin Atlantic Global digital strategy head James Shanahan as its digital marketing associate director. Shanahan will focus on building the price comparison site’s performance marketing, data and loyalty activities. At Virgin Atlantic his role included creating and executing the business’s approach to multi-channel acquisition and retention, ecommerce digital properties and customer experience.

Guy Carpenter
Matthias Meyenhofer has been named as managing director at the reinsurance specialist, heading up the global client segment for EMEA. He joins from the Ace Group, where he was division president of Ace Tempest Re Zurich and responsible for all treaty non-life business underwritten from Zurich. He will be based in Zurich and report to Eric Paire, head of strategic advisory and global partners.
