Penny loves to get a glimpse inside insurance chief executives’ offices – there’s nothing like seeing faded 1970s sports team photos as a hark back to one’s glory days.

However, she wasn’t expecting to find a life-sized rubber pigeon on the mantle in Besso CEO Colin Bird’s office and, it turns out, neither was he when the fowl first appeared. A poke at the boss’s surname by an office junior, perhaps? Penny, for one, would be most offended if likened to a rat of the sky, considering herself much more of a refined warbler.
