Penny loves a bit of transatlantic rivalry – especially with Andrew Torrance keeping up the British end in the US – so was saddened to hear tales of former Crawford & Company fraud chief Bobby Gracey being bested by Yankees.

Having moved stateside to Global Options earlier this year, Gracey has been mercilessly teased by his American chums (probably named Brad, Chip and Biff) for being unable to keep pace with their relentless drinking habits. Learn to chug a brewski, Gracey, for the sake of your country.

Meanwhile, Penny finds nothing more satisfying than hearing about the youthful indiscretions of her favourite industry personalities – but that only extends to those who manage to avoid becoming junior Mafioso. Apparently, LV’s Michael ‘the Don’ Lawrence was the hired muscle of a young bookmaker when he was still in short trousers. Lawrence told Penny he used to dish out beatings – most likely a dead arm – to tykes who wouldn’t pay the debts of one his buddies who was making an tidy sideline running books. As far back as he could remember, Lawrence always wanted to be a gangster...
