Penny Black's insurance week

The newspapers have been full of events cancelled due to weather this week, so Penny was not surprised to hear that the insurance industry has been affected too.

The Agencyport team headed up to Alton Towers for a fun-filled day out, but due to the snow, many rides were closed for safety reasons. A clearly disappointed Phil Race, managing director, had to swap the Sanctuary, The Blade and Oblivion for what can only be described as kiddie rides. One can just imagine him in a giant teacup muttering about the event insurance he should have had in place.

Meanwhile, Penny doesn’t often feel as if Father Time is creeping up on her but an encounter during a conference call this week certainly had one considering her lost youth. Speaking to Eiopa’s chief on the Solvency II guidelines, the sounds of crying and low-level cooing had Penny mulling over the age of the rival journalists. However, as the noise become full-on chatter, it was evident the sounds were from the eight-month-old daughter of one of the hacks. As Gabriel Bernardino carried stoically on, Penny was not the only journalist to suppress a chuckle at the interjection.
