Key legal topics to be debated at All Party Group

Two key legal issues facing the insurance industry will be debated at the All Party Parliamentary Group on Insurance & Financial Services tomorrow (Tuesday 15 December).

Representatives of claimant and defendant lawyers will look at the recent announcement by Chancellor George Osborne in the Autumn Statement of tough new restrictions on the ability to claim compensation for alleged whiplash injuries. They will also examine the broader issues around public liability insurance, especially the suggestion that it should be made compulsory for most businesses and activities.

Should public liability insurance be made compulsory? And what will the Autumn Statement mean for the insurance market?
