Insurers

Antares
Antares Lloyd’s Syndicate 1274 has launched its property direct and facultative division with the appointments of Will Curtis and Gary Clark as property underwriters. The duo will begin underwriting immediately, reporting to Kieran Oliver, non-marine underwriting manager. Curtis brings nearly a decade of experience in the Lloyd’s insurance market to his new role. He joins from ANV Syndicate 5820 where he underwrote a diverse portfolio of open market property business. He began his underwriting career at Liberty Syndicates. Clark also joins Antares from ANV Syndicate 5820 where he served as binding authorities underwriter in the global
property division.

CNA Hardy
CNA Hardy has appointed Andy Clements as distribution director, Europe. He will report to Elliot Miller, head of UK regions and Luc Malâtre, vice-president of field operations. In his new role, Clements will be responsible for building effective and long lasting strategic relationships with broker partners. Before joining CNA Hardy, Clements worked at Travelers as general manager – distribution and agency for Europe.

XL Catlin
XL Catlin has promoted Joe Blenkinsopp to the position of chief underwriting officer for its political risk and trade credit team. Blenkinsopp takes the role with immediate effect, having previously held the position of deputy global head of the PRTC team. Blenkinsopp will be responsible for managing a team of political risk and trade credit underwriters globally. He assumes the role from Richard Maxwell who will be leaving the company following four years of service.


Brokers

Alan Boswell Group
Alex Thorpe has joined independent broker Alan Boswell Group as group development manager, with a focus on large commercial clients. He will cover the East Anglia region working closely with the group’s offices in Bury St Edmunds, Peterborough, Attleborough and Norwich. Before joining Alan Boswell Group, Thorpe was area sales director for Towergate Insurance Brokers, based in Bury St. Edmunds. He has also worked for Beckett Group and Norwich Union. Hayes Parsons
Independent insurance broker Hayes Parsons Insurance has hired Nigel Rawlings and Alex O’Donnell. Rawlings has joined as compliance and training manager, a new position to help develop and deliver ongoing continous professional development and training and the achievement of chartered broker status. He was last at Equity Red Star where he held the role of business development executive. O’Donnell was previously a development executive at Zurich and joins as an account executive who will be responsible for looking after the package broking team.


Loss adjusters

Criterion
Criterion has added to its team of high-net-worth loss adjusters with the addition of Paul Taylor. Taylor has joined from the Davies Group where he was an associate director in the major and complex loss unit. Taylor can be contacted on 07788 627208    and paul@criterionadjusters.com

Claims Portal Limited
Tim Wallis has been reappointed chairman of Claims Portal Limited following a review of the role. The other board members are: Pro Legal’s Susan Brown, Bott & Co’s David Bott, Unison’s Helen Buczynsky and Walker Smith Way Legal’s Brian Dawson. Also on the board are Thompsons Solicitors’ Judith Gledhill (representing claimant solicitors) and QBE’s Jonathan Coatman, Allianz’s Graham Gibson, Ageas’s Gary Luff, Zurich’s Derek McCann, the Motor Insurers’ Bureau’s Tony Sherman and Green Circle Consulting’s Martin Ward, all representing the Association of British Insurers.

Price of tower block insurance finally slashed

Insurance premiums for leaseholders waiting for combustible material to be removed from their blocks of flats could plummet by up to two thirds following the launch of the Association of British Insurers’ Fire Safety Reinsurance Scheme today (13 March), according to Axa.
