The winner of 2013's British Insurance Award for young achiever of the year has been handed a new role as engineering underwriting account manager at Allianz.

One of Allianz's youngest managers and a former Guildford Chartered Insurance Institute president, Claire White (pictured collecting her award t the BIA) joined the insurer in 2004. White's dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to the CII were all commended by the judging panel at last July's awards. "Claire is clearly a fantastic talent for Allianz but also for our profession," said one judge. "A very, very impressive entry, which fulfils all the criteria and then some," remarked another.

Previously serving as branch manager of Allianz Commercial's small business team, White's new role will see her joining the engineering markets board, the underwriting and technical board and senior management team.

Allianz Engineering director of engineering markets Chris Little said: "I am delighted to welcome Claire to the engineering team. The progress and continual success of the small business team, which now contributes more than £70m worth of business, is testament to Claire's exceptional leadership and talent."
