Australian giant QBE has hired Marcelo Teixeira in a dual role.
Teixeira, pictured, has joined QBE as global head of bancassurance and head of strategic development for the emerging markets division.
Teixera is to look at "cross-regional synergies" and business opportunities in emerging markets which includes countries in Asia-Pacific and Latin America and is overseen by Hong Kong-based CEO David Fried. For bancassurance Teixeira has been charged with growing the insurers' share of personal, SME and specialty lines of insurance.
He will be based in Miami.
Teixera was group head of insurance and pensions at HSBC from 2011 to 2015. Fried was formerly group head of insurance at HSBC's global insurance operations.
