Osborne drops IPT Budget bombshell

Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne has caught the industry by surprise with an announcement that insurance premium tax will rise to 9.5% from November.

The IPT rate was previously 6%.

News of the increase has been met with anger by the British Insurance Brokers' Association, who took to Twitter immediately to voice their displeasure at the move.
