Magnus McGurk has left his role as Chubb's financial lines boss in Glasgow to join Allied World Europe, with a view to setting up a new operation in the city.

Carolyn Hamilton, Chubb UK regions manager, confirmed Mr McGurk's departure, adding the firm "remains committed to providing brokers and our clients in Glasgow, and across Scotland, with an ongoing and exceptional service."

It follows the departure of several senior managers from Chubb's Irish operation to join Mitsui Sumitomo, including Greg Wilde who also had responsibility for Scotland.

Post understands Mr McGurk will join Allied within months, with the company hoping to establish an office in Glasgow in the longer term, in addition to its other European hubs in London, Dublin and Zug, Switzerland.

Mr McGurk's arrival comes days after Allied World Europe president John Redmond resigned from his post.

Mr Redmond joined the company in 2002 after working at Chubb for 23 years. Frank D'Orazio, president of Allied World's Bermuda and international insurance operations, has taken over the role on an interim basis. Allied World refused to comment.
