Steve White is CEO of the British Insurance Brokers Association

Following the success of its ongoing Young Broker Steering Group, the British Insurance Brokers’ Association has appointed a young ambassador to each of its 12 regions.

Young ambassadors now appointed are: Alan Clarke, Higos Insurance, West of England, pictured; Alexandra Witham, Everard Insurance, South East; Andrew Weir, Greenwood Insurance, Scotland; Caitlin Dean, Bluefin, Greater Manchester and West Pennine; Elizabeth Mathew, Arthur J Gallagher, West Midlands, pictured; Emma Bell, RK Harrison, Central; Kerri-Ann Hockley, Policy Bee, Anglia; Lois Williams, AJ Gallagher, East Midlands; Louise Jones, Thomas Carroll, South Wales; Sam Gosney, Mason Owen Financial Services, Merseyside, North Wales, West Cheshire and Isle of Man; and Stephanie Goldsmith, Ravenhall, Yorkshire and Northern. A young ambassador is yet to be appointment to Northern Ireland.

The newly appointed ambassadors will represent the interests of younger members across the UK, canvassing views, encouraging learning and promoting insurance broking as a career. In addition, they will work closely with Biba and other industry stakeholders to ensure that opportunities for development and progression are available.

Biba chief executive Steve White, pictured,  commented: “We said earlier in the year when we launched our Young Broker Steering Group that we wanted to address the issue of succession planning in the industry. Creating our young ambassadors is a natural progression of this initiative. We see this group of young professionals as instrumental in ensuring we maintain a healthy flow of opportunities through the broking sector, bringing new ideas and helping keep the industry at the forefront of social and technological change.”

The initiative is one that supports Biba’s 2015 Manifesto call to make the insurance sector as a career of choice and will promote the flow of talent into the industry with young brokers influencing its shape in the future.
