I'm interested to see to what degree the different industry bodies (insurance, private equity, hedge funds etc.) in each of the member countries can work together with sympathetic governments (or, at least departments) to create an alternative, or set of alternatives to current proposals. It seems certain that individual and selfish concerns along with the politics of public opinion will make it impossible for the European financial services industry to present a united front.
