Following the extreme rain and flooding Queensland treasurer Curtis Pitt said there has been around a A$1.5bn loss in coal exports, an approximate A$150m hit to tourism and a further A$270m hit to sugar cane and other crops; alongside other damage the total is likely to be around A$2bn although the Queensland Reconstruction Authority is still determining the full extent of the losses.
